ROCKVILLE ART LEAGUE SCHOLARSHIP

THE ROCKVILLE ART LEAGUE PROVIDES TWO FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR SCHOLARSHIPS TO ART MAJORS AT MONTGOMERY COLLEGE. ONE SCHOLARSHIP IS AWARDED IN THE FALL, AND ONE IN THE SPRING. THE MONEY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIPS IS PROVIDED TO HELP SUPPORT AN OUTSTANDING ART STUDENT. THE ART FACULTY AT MONTGOMERY COLLEGE SELECTS AWARDEES. ROCKVILLE ART LEAGUE HAS BEEN PROVIDING MONEY FOR THESE SCHOLARSHIPS SINCE NINETEEN HUNDRED AND SEVENTY SIX.

Robert Dixon Gumm

The awardee for the Rockville Art League Scholarship for both Fall 2002 and Spring 2003 is Robert Dixon Gumm. Mr. Gumm is a resident of Rockville and a Studio Art Major at Montgomery College. His primary art interests include printmaking, sculpture, painting, and woodcarving (mostly waterfowl and wildlife). Mr. Gumm aspires to complete studies at Montgomery College and then to study for an MFA. His career interests are studio work, teaching, and community arts programming. Mr. Gumm had his sculpture "Venus" on display at the Rockville Art League December show and also at the Rockville Civic Center F. Scott Fitzgerald Theater. He has exhibited waterfowl carvings at the Aspen Hill Library. He co-judged the winter City of Rockville Student Art show together with Heidi Nam. Mr. Gumm is a member of the Honor Society Phi Theta Kappa at Montgomery College where he continues to maintain his 4.0 grade-point average.

On behalf of Montgomery College and the Montgomery College Scholarship Foundation, it is my pleasure to inform you that the following student has been selected as the recipient of The Rockville Art League Scholarship for the 2003 spring semester.

Mr. Robert Gumm was also the recipient of the fall scholarship given by your organization. I know that you are pleased with the work of this student. He continues to achieve excellent grades and at midterm earned all A’s. His GPA stands at an impressive 4.0. As he continues his goal of becoming an artist, these funds will help him achieve his dream.

The Rockville Art League Scholarship’s generous assistance will provide this student with additional resources to continue his education at Montgomery College.
